CMHA Weyburn receives funds through United Way Regina’s Seniors Response Fund
4 June 2020
Continuation of some services were made possible in part by United Way Regina’s Covid-19 Seniors Response Fund funded by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The United Way Regina has chosen to support the CMHA Weyburn Branch efforts to maintain the programs we are able to run until June 19th, 2020.
The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) provides grants and contributions for projects that help improve the well-being of seniors and foster their social inclusion. To provide more support for seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada announced flexibility for organizations to use funding received through the NHSP community-based stream to provide immediate and essential services to seniors impacted by COVID-19.
The funds designated to the CMHA Weyburn Branch will be allocated to staff wages and other expenses and supports needed to maintain some of the programs we are currently able to provide during these challenging times.
The programs supported include:
- Support calls weekly to 20 individuals (half of which are seniors)
- Providing lunches to regular attending clients (20 lunches per week)
- Providing ride services for groceries to regular clients
